22-04-09 | I Make Fan Art
Well, I found I had a bit of spare time on my hands in the Easter holidays (now sadly over). So I figured I'd start on something I've been thinking about for a while - fan art. As well as having spare time, I also now have Flash, which is a really good program for creating nice cartoony graphics as well as cool games. So, using Flash, I created a few pieces of fan art of some GameMaker games which I like. So far, I've done pieces for 10800 Zombies, Sad Moon Mission and Precision. You can view the three pieces here. I'll be making more when I have time, so if you want me to create fan art for one of your games, feel free to contact me.
Oh, on a side note, I've started to really progress well with Flash and ActionScript; I think I'm getting the hang of it! I should have a little mini game finished pretty soon.

11-04-09 | Developing with Flash
Just over two weeks ago, I finally got my hands on Adobe Flash. I've been playing around with it since I got it and I have to admire how great it is. But, as I expected, it's not as easy to get going in as GameMaker is, so I've mainly been stuck looking for tutorials to overcome any problems I had. Fortunately, there are a lot of tutorials and examples about to keep me going. I've started on a simple platform game that I hope to finish. I believe completing a first game in Flash will help me with my confidence and ability with the program. I may post screenshots of my game in progress soon - we'll see.

01-04-09 | New Game
A few days ago, I released my fifth game, Businessman Bob. This platformer, created for the Four Hours to Glory competition at The Poppenkast, contains eight levels and is relatively short in lifespan because of the competition time limit. I've received mixed feedback about the game, but hopefully you'll enjoy it. You can view the game page, here.

25-03-09 | 300+ Hits
This website has now been up for approximately three months and now has had over 300 (non-unique) hits, as you can see by the counter at the bottom of the page. Since I haven't really advertised the website much, I'm pretty pleased to have passed this milestone. I haven't really got much feedback for the site, but I'm hoping that is because no one can think of criticism for it. In the following months, I plan to try and get more hits by actually linking to the site in my games and by posting about it in more forums. Then hopefully more people will know about the website and come back to visit from time to time. If you have been checking up on the website for a while, then I thank you and I hope you continue to visit, as I have a couple of games nearing release. Come to think of it, I may try to add a simple comment feature into this site, so people can leave feedback more easily. It will also let me know if anyone actually reads these updates!

18-03-09 | GMTech Issue 15 Out Now
The fifteenth issue of the Game Maker Technology Magazine was released last Friday. This was the first issue that I had contributed to and I thought it was, overall, a fantastic publication. The online magazine is available in PDF format and can be downloaded at the GMTech website (GameMakerTech.info). I definitely advise you to take a look at this issue, as there is some quality stuff packed in there. Also, make sure to follow up and subscribe to the magazine, as new issues should come every month or so.

Yep, I've joined the fad too. If you use Twitter, then come by twitter.com/broxter to see what I get up to. You just so need to follow me! I'll be posting about random things that I do throughout the day, as well as news about my games and school (whoo!).

05-03-09 | New Look
After being up for no more than two months, the whole website has undergone a complete design overhaul. I decided that the old look was just too plain and basic and not very fun. Hence, I've tried to stretch my graphical capabilities to make this new design much cooler. After spending countless hours modifying little things, I'm quite pleased at how the final design has come together. If you have any feedback regarding the new look website, then please drop me an e-mail by, at jjstore@hotmail.co.uk and I will reply as soon as possible. Hopefully you like the new look; I know I do.
